FOUNDER, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, AND CURATOR CLAUDIO GUERRIERI
What does movement mean to you? The rapid eye motion of scrolling endlessly through feeds, stories, and news cycles. A walk through swaying trees, their roots entwined in an endless rhythm. The fires we sit around, the buses we run to catch, the whispers shared with a friend, the breath pulsing in our chests. A jolt of shock. The art we create.
IN MOVEMENT invites the viewer to explore movement beyond physicality—integrating sound as a guiding force through PIANO ZER0, the creative project of gallerist and curator CLAUDIO GUERRIERI. Housed in a former carpentry shop turned home in Torpignattara, PIANO ZER0 becomes the setting for an immersive experience, where creation acts as an extension of collective dreams, a language to express deep desires and realities.
Transcending the traditional framework of witnessing art, IN MOVEMENT dismantles the passive, altar-like, silent gaze of the gallery space. Here, performance, video, illustration, painting, photography, mixed media, and sound intersect, breaking binaries of the mind and body. Through the works of six artists, the exhibition explores movement as a state of being, an internal force, a method of navigating the world.
EVA MALEEN, a painter from Hamburg now based in Rome, investigates the relationships between women in patriarchal societies—whether familial, platonic, or romantic—highlighting the alternative spaces women create together as sanctuaries from the hyper-masculine world. IO KURIVIÁL, a mixed-media artist currently based in Rome, creates wearable art, jewelry, and tactile compositions that expose the fluid nature of gender and identity, where the masculine and feminine continuously shift into new forms. ELEONORE SCLAVOUNIS, raised between Athens and Paris and now working in Rome, navigates the motions of the inner world through bold colors and mixed media, juxtaposing everyday calmness with swirling emotion.
OTTAVIA CERNUCHI, an analog photographer from Milan based in Rome, captures unseen moments—long sequences of movement, stories, and fleeting interactions—preserving what often slips past in daily life. NATALIE HASAN, a multidisciplinary artist blending digital, performance, and sound art, focuses on body cartography , mapping the human form to dissolve barriers between audience and space, challenging the constructs of the “white cube.”
SIMA, a Tunisian mixed-media artist currently studying in Rome, allows intuition and creative vision to guide her practice, spanning film, abstract photography, acrylic, watercolor, oil, and ink. She breaks the boundary between viewer and artwork, inviting participation in her introspective world.
Movement does not always require a surge of energy or the presence of a body. It can exist as an amorphous force—a channeling of what is, or once was. A shared thread carrying stories within us. With the combined visions of these six artists, IN MOVEMENT highlights different perspectives, experiences, and expressions, coexisting in one space. It challenges the viewer to redefine movement—to hold multiple truths at once. To acknowledge that duality does not require stillness. To consider why movement in public, especially by certain bodies, is only accepted when non-confrontational, comforting, and as visible as possible.
