Motorefisico is a duo composed of Lorenzo Pagliara and Gianmaria Zonfrillo, both architects and designers from Rome. We work across various fields, including interior decoration, three-dimensional installations, exhibition design, and video art. Since 2015, we have been designing walls and flooring for homes, schools, offices, hotels, and venues. Composition is the foundation of our work; our goal is to find the best design for each space we are given. We build our geometries directly on site, which allows us to enter the space in a fluid way, adapting perfectly to it. Every single line is the result of extensive compositional thought. Motorefisico is a project that embraces many expressive techniques. Our methods range from the use of tape—for drawing and creating paint masks—to the use of Lycra for tensile structures and wireframe sculptures. We also employ these techniques to create video and visual projects.
